Artist Statement
In my work, I draw inspiration from found objects, and old photographs. They provide me with a solid foundation for composition and color.
My process starts by developing the image through painting. After sometime, I begin to work reductively. Erasing and scraping the surface of the painting until the image begins to fragment and distort itself. Visual distortion allows me to create movement that makes the painting flow in and out of itself. As a result, I am able to create little windows into new worlds, which allow for a photograph or still life to become re-written and synthesized into new realities.
